THE SCIENCE OF ASTROLOGY

Most of us know our sun sign, and when we hear the word "astrology," that is the first thing that pops into our minds. You are also likely familiar with the "horoscope" columns in magazines or websites that give a brief generalized interpretation of what is to come the day, month, or year. Our sun signs and these horoscope columns are merely the surfaces of the deep, complex, and intricate ocean of astrology and what it can mean and do for us.

Astrology originated from the Babylonians. Studying the movements of the planets allowed them to keep track of the seasons and important celestial events. In the 4th century BC, Astrology was introduced to the Greeks, which is where the mythological stories and symbolism behind astrology originated. The Romans also discovered the practice shortly after the Greeks, which is why astrology has connections with both Roman and Greek mythology. The Romans were the ones to give the names and meanings to the zodiac signs that we know today. The science of astrology originated from the 12 lunar cycles each year. Constellations received their names according to these Lunar cycles, and thus the zodiac signs were born.

Each passing moment is special and unique. Astrology is known to be the study of how the movements of the stars and planets affect a person's life. These effects they have on people have been studied and observed for thousands of years, and it has developed and evolved into a very useful and beneficial spiritual practice. The fundamental principle in astrology is that of "As above, so below." This means that the stars above have a direct influence on life on earth below. In quantum physics, what applies to the larger scale of the universe, also applies to the smaller atom.

Every morning, as the sun rises, our bodies excrete hormones to wake us up. In summer, our endocrine glands release more hormones, which causes us to feel happier and more cheerful compared to during winter. The lunar cycles affect the tides of the oceans, as well as humans, especially the female menstrual and reproductive cycle. Violent crimes are known to be more prominent on the night of the full moon, as it is known to affect human psychology. A study conducted by the psychologist, Arnold Lieber at the University of Miami, concludes that as the moon phase moves toward the full moon, the occurrence of crime, especially violent crime, is more likely and prominent. This study took into account 15 years of crime data.

We all consist of stardust. Without the planets in our solar system, the earth would not exist as it does today. The universe created us, and we are a direct imprint of the intention of the universe. In astrology, the placements of the planets in alignment with the stars of the zodiac map out your destiny. A birth chart is like a blueprint to the soul. Each birth chart is as unique as your fingerprint, and your birth chart is the basis for any other form of astrology, such as your solar return, compatibility, and most other chart types.  Astrology can be used for many purposes, including relationships, planning for the future, and human psychology.

There are many different forms of astrology, such as Vedic astrology, Eastern astrology, Western astrology, the list continues! Here at Starborn Patterns, we focus on Western astrology. Astrology charts consist of the zodiac signs, the houses, and planets, and these are all elements that get used in the interpretations.
